painting case

well im attempting to paint the case, but i cant find any 1000 grit sandpaper where i live, and im not able to use dupli color paint, but i guess my question is can i just use the 1500 and forget about the 1000 at the time i need it or not?

also can i just sand off all the paint to the bare metal and paint it following your steps or would be it better to keep some of the paint

also the first time i wetsande (before the primer) i wetsand with 320 sandpaper right? and i put water on it and sand it lightly?

Hi Reed,

320 might be a little coarse, but if you continue to bring the paper up to finer grits in steps it should be fine. You didn't say what grit you had below 1500, so I don't know if you are taking a gradual step or a giant leap. Giant leaps can be done but you will go through a lot of sandpaper trying to get the deeper scratches out.

You will get a better job if you take your time and don't try to rush or skip steps. I hope you'll be able to post some pictures as you go along.

alright thanks, it will first be 600-1500 with no 1000, but im hoping to go to autozone and get the right stuff
