they're insane small Smiley

I bought some RED/BLUE smd's to mod my tivo with (it has red/green) but lost my nerve when I got in there and saw how hard they'd be to desolder and solder back in

I've worked with those on some of the radio.... it's pain in the butt...

"Bright" is a difficult thing to quantify since it characterizes a human response to the light, not the light itself.

What I can tell you is that you'll see lower luminous intensity ratings and higher beam angles (120 degrees is common) with SMD devices, since they are not packaged in the dome-shaped epoxy housing that focuses the light into a collimated beam.
