Lumiled has a production LED at 100Lm/W!!!

Its true, even if it is my own version of specmanship.  The Rebel LXML-PWC1-0080 puts out 100Lm/W per the data sheet if it is only run at 100mA.  Since a lot of the high L/W parts are probably going to cost around that much it might actually make sense.

Ive heard the Rebel is going to be a cheap part. Any idea of pricing, JustDIY?

The problem i see with this part is its a pure SMD, made for reflow soldering. But i like reliabily very much. Im very happy with the documentation lumileds join with the Rebel's launch, with detailed lm degradation info. It seems running it at 350mA at decent thermal resistance woulld provide a very long life. And running it at lower currents will increase efficiency and guarantee a long life. If price is low, as ive heard, its very interesting.

the pricing is low I guess, compared to nichia or cree products, but it's not "cheap"

cadstar's other post reflects the pricing for the top-binned products.  the lower quality bins have cheaper prices, some under $2 per qty 1
