Is it possible to create a mirror finish with Bumper Chrome spray paint?  I'm thinking about adding some chrome trim around the keyboard of the laptop but I dont know if I can sand and polish it.  Simply spraying it on creates a shiny silver that doesent really reflect anything.

No.

Chrome paint utterly sucks.

But--I wouldn't leave you without something to go forward--go down to the auto parts store, and look for "Trimbrite Quicksilver Rocker Panel" kit. It's an adhesive plastic film with a mirror finish, on a roll maybe 5 or 6 inches wide. You should be able to set up a really convincing chrome look that way.

Although I haven't tried this yet, judging by the quality of their other paints, I figure it would be worth the risk  Smiley

I have used Duplicolor a few times and loved how everything turned out.  Alsa Corp. makes stunning paints; however, they are very expensive.

Actually Chome paint Has Come along ways and there are Quite a few products out there that can be obtained to give you the look of Chrome

Below are a few Makers names that can help you out on your journey of finding the paint

SpazStix Mirror Chrome
Parma
Testors makes a good One Cant remember the name of It though
(but i Will Find it)

the Process is relatively Simple as well
instead of Working with Silver as a base you want to Make Absolutely certain the piece being painted is clear and free of Lint, and be absolutely flawless as possible
then prime and paint for a Mirror finnish Black High gloss finnish such as the Color Flip flop finnished Case mod found in Linear1's Profile, now here is where things Change and go a different Direction Once the Mirror Finnish has been Obtained Spray with the Mirror Chrome paint, (i like the SpazStix paint for this application because it Works in the Microns not normally found in automotive paints which are designed for coverage and not high Quality Finnishes
Anyways you want anywhere between 10-13 very light Misted coats of this chrome paint, allowing 5-10 minutes dry time between coats
you Will Immediately Start to see the reflective Quality on the firts coat develope, But DONT rush it, once you have the 13 Coats applied you will need to Seal it

Now as for sealing I Like to Use 1 Coat Of Dullcoat Just to dust it and help the Gloss adhere from testors Paint and 12 coats of High gloss Clearcoat of choosing MFG finnish up with the 3M Rubbing compound and wetsanding teqnique and your nearly finnished

Here is something alot of People Miss Out on when It comes to chrome paints, the clearcoat is what gives you the Depth in Color Paint,  But you Want that Depth turned into a reflective property with chrome, best thing i have found to help attain this is either furniture Polish or Floor wax buffed out With a Sisal hand cloth

Below are some samples of this Paint in Use
