It's been pretty quiet on the forums lately, so I thought I'd share another derivative of my color-changing lighting projects I've been working on.  This one has just emerged from the early prototype stage and I just ordered some PCBs that I should have by the end of the week.

This one is a 5-segment RGB LED driver.  A single driver with 5 independent RGB outputs.  The LEDs are driven by a TI TLC5940 16-channel constant current PWM LED driver, controlled by a PIC16F628A MCU.  It speaks the same language as my other lights, so it can be controlled by my lighting controllers.

Now I just have to work out what type of enclosure I want to put it in.

The picture here is the prototype.  I'll try to get some more pictures and a video once the PCBs arrive.

Got the PCBs for this yesterday, and got one assembled and tested.  Soldering SMT isn't as hard as I thought I would be, even with my unsteady hands.

A video of it in operation is here: http://gallery.me.com/jlforester#100023

I got the video link to work fine with Safari, but not Firefox  Huh  I might not have been patient enough.  Here's a link to a location where the video file can be downloaded:

Got the DL to work,  looks nice!

What are you planning to use in the way of a power RGB LED?
