Hi, I've recently gotten into electronics and have constructed an LED Hoola Hoop kit I got from make. It's pretty simple, easy, and straight forward. 21 LEDs, connected by 22 guage wire to a AA battery thats inside of clear irrigation tube.

The problem is I don't know what type of LEDs came with the kit other then color, 20 solid color and 1 multicolor RGB LED. I want to start making these hoops on my own and ordering my own parts because it's much much cheaper that way. I don't know much about LEDs at all, so I don't know what type of LEDs to order, other then the fact that I want brighter LEDs and at least a few multi-colored LEDs. I don't know what LEDs will be the brightest while not needing much power, so I can get good battery life out of a single AA battery.

When I go to sites offering LEDs for sale, I'm not sure what the specs are telling me. I understand that Luminous intensity obviously means brightness, but I don't really have any relitivity, I don't know how bright 1000 lumins is nor 10000 lumins.

I basically just want some basic info on how to understand the specs of LEDs, and maybe a few sugguestions on what type of LEDs I should get.

Thanks.
