Oh Bob, do you have any openings that this mail might fit?  (Mel brooks quote)

Your mail has been clogged for days...

Umm, Rob, this was meant for you... the email has completely errored out now.  Are you ok?

It was about the automotive EMC standards post I made with a link to a PDF explanation.  It shows a graph of voltage verses time for auto power bus load dump survivability tests.  At 90V peak most regulators will not survive and anyone wanting to attempt the use of resistors to light LEDs should be informed that their relatively expensive set of lighting class LEDs are likely to be short lived.

Sorry if I went underground there--my server disk space allotment got filled, and it was old log files that were getting charged against my disk quota that were to blame.

All is well, no need for flying LEDs at half mast or anything, just needed to clean my cyber-room up.

2/3 of my allotment was filled up with old log files.  Angry

Glad you're good.

Glad you're ok... did you get a look at the load dump link I posted?  It might be beyond many but a few critical points can be pointed out when someone is trying to use resister limited LEDs in a car!

Has anybody else even tried my method of mounting(uh,huh,huh..he said mounting!) rebel leds with success?  chug-a-lug I was scared for awhile back in January when I got an e-mail from luxeon about the recall on some rebels w/bad epoxy. Well over 200 hrs on 'em now,the suspect batch usually crapped out within 24 hrs. Shocked Still waiting for price/lumen to drop a little more.  chug-a-lug Still looking @ huge heatsink waiting for some rebels to be planted in it. Smiley I think I'd probably worry more about a vehicles computer in the event of a 90 volt spike,I.E.,alternator regulator failure.
