As the title states, I know nothing about programming. Well almost nothing. I used to make basic programs on the C64, I took fortran in college, and I've done a little javascript modding on some websites. But that's about it.
Here is what i want to do:
I saw this device with instructions show to make it:The Time Fountain
It requires a PIC16LF628A microcontroller witha firmware program which is linked to on the page. Yes I realize for the $30 he'll sell it preprogrammed for I could save myself a lot of headache, but I figure this would be a good way to jump into the world of microcontrollers.
so finally, the question:
What do I need to get his provided firmware onto a new microcontroller.
I have a linux box laying about that I'd like to use for this purpose. what physical component do I need to get? (a programmer, i believe) and what software do I need to interact with it?
If this is too much to tackle on a thread, please post a link that might educate me.
Thanks,
G
