I want to paint my monitor black, but I also want it to be glossy.  I saw the article on using vinyl dye for the plastics, but I can't find anything on adding gloss to the vinyl dye finish.  My case is a nice glossy black, and I am looking to match it.  If anyone could let me know what the best approach for this is, I would appreciate it.

find some scrap plastic to test this theory on, but if the plastic is shiny to start with, it will be shiny once it is dyed.  dye is a chemical process that changes the color of the plastic, it does not add additional filler to the surface.

that said, I don't know how to polish plastic, to turn a matte finish into a glossy one.

Vinyl dye is not a gloss finish and there isn't anything I know of to make it so. Why not use gloss spray paint and protective clear coats? It's far more time consuming, but the results are tremendously satisfying. I modded a case some time back and wanted the monitor to match the color scheme of the case - well, I wanted everything to match - and I used some custom mixed automotive spray (a metallic) and a rattle can satin black and then added some chrome accents with chrome sheeting and pin-striping. Turned out pretty nice:
