starter books

Hi,
  This is my first post here. I'm looking for some books to start me in learning this hobby. I need a book or books that tell me what compents are what & what they do. maybe a book that has projects in them. it would be good if I could get them at Amazom"s website. I'm really looking for these books so I can start playing with LEDs.

Hi Cory - Welcome to the site.

I do almost all my readin about electronics on the Internet - it's free and vast, compared to books I could get at my library.   If you want to get some beginner books anyway, Forrest Mimms comes to mind, he did a lot of beginner style books decades ago, but they're still applicable today.
