I was able to put one together and sent it out to a buddy of mine and he said it works well Smiley I'm going to see what kind of results he gets before I decide to build some for myself Smiley

For lettuce, at the very least, it is red:

http://www.metaefficient.com/archives/hydroponics/red-leds-to-grow-lettuce.html

I have been doing some reading and it seems red is probably best.  I go into it in the other topic with bvnursery where we have been discussing the HV discussion has shifted to the pros and cons of various LEDs as grow

lamps.http://forums.linear1.org/index.php/topic,1251.15.html

Actually if you extrapolate from some of the spectral charts, it is a dead on mirror of the results of the research Ive done and have based the nm ratings of my arrays against.

Teckie enough for those that want it but broken down into segments so that if us folks can read it and find what our particular interest is.   Really well done.

I could not, off hand, find the link to it from the main page.  This would mean then it is considered "off line" and could be yanked at any moment.  Consequently I am considering mirroring it locally to prevent it's loss.  If and when I will forward it to you and Rob zipped as you seem to be the ones most interested, though it seems there might be one other.

BV,

From a production standpoint you should use lensed SMTs.  If, for example, you were to use a panasonic LNJ218C8ARA for the red and project the eye curve into the plant curve you get a peak of 612mcd at 660nm and 136mcd at 680nm.  I know mcd is scaled for the eye but it is easier to just call it that instead of introducing a new term to everyone who reads this.
