I guess it's something I started and it's like trying to stop smoking Grin This is my 5th year on this and I'm going to widen my garden for a few more plants this year Grin heres a pic from last year.

Heres a pic on what I hope to grow this year from the seed I ordered Smiley

Whoah. So is it all genetics, or is there anything a gardner can do to give them a size boost?

It's all in the seed itself if you can get the right seed along with the right ground in growing em, I'll get in detail when planting time gets here Cool

I've always wanted to grow large pumpkins, but I never seem to get around to it.

I know what you mean Merlinicorpus Grin I can hardly find time myself but if you can find time in the morning thats all you would need Grin It's kind of cool when fall comes around when you can back your truck up in the patch and lift that sucker up on the bed with a chain and hoist Cool

I didn't grow these, these were from the Iowa State Fair last year. Thought you'd like the pics.

Spring likes to taunt my region

we'll have a brief warm-up this time of year, late feb-march, and then it plunges back into winter until mid june (below freezing at night)

Shit, linear. Plenty of it, horse preferred. A big hole, full of manure and piled high above the surface, makes a nice hot-bed. Warmth and moisture are the main secrets.

A local pub runs a competition, seeds are dished out to competitors from the previous year's winner. I guess that's the genetics bit.  Cheesy

I'm in luck then. I'm well-stocked in that particular renewable resource.
